Topping graduated with a BA(Hons) in Painting from Glasgow School of Art in 1999 before serving on Glasgow's Transmission Gallery committee. Topping has exhibited in group shows internationally and in solo shows at Glasgow School of Art, Glasgow's Gallery of Modern Art & Intermedia at The C.C.A.

Recent exhibitions include: There's Some on her Palm and in the Crook of her Arm, Nomi's Kitchen, Glasgow, Black Magic, Glasgow Project Room (2010), Fizz Up and Disolve (GPR) & Vocal Sans, The Old Print Studio Building as part of the Glasgow International Festival of Contemporary Art 2010, Little Magazine, SWG3, Glasgow (2010) & Field, Satellite, Newcastle Upon Tyne (2010). Recent work featured in Canned Magazine (Issue 2). Shows in 2012 include Smoking Forever, a performance in collaboration with Clare Stephenson, Loughborough University & a group exhibition in Fremantle, Australia. 

Topping was the recipient of The Scottish Arts Council Amsterdam Residency 2007/08 and is currently Lecturer in Fine Art at the University of Cumbria.
